How it works

When you sign up for the O' to 4 Mentor program, you self select a group to join, or we match you with a group of new students  commencing similar or same studies. For the first few weeks, you'll have the chance to browse other members' profiles and connect with like-minded peers. You will be introduced to your group via our online mentoring platform and your student email once enough students have joined.

In early February, the program kicks off, your group will be matched with a suitable mentor to help guide you through O'Week to Week 4, and you'll be invited to the Great Picnic in the Great Court. You can choose to continue to communicate online or to meet up in person with your mentor & group throughout your first weeks. Most of our current participants organise to meet up during O’Week.

Who can join

The O’ to 4 Mentor program supports students in their first semester at UQ. This includes high school leavers,  transfer students, new mature aged students, domestic and international students. As our mentors come from a variety of different ages and backgrounds, we do our best where possible to match new students to a group and a mentor with whom they can connect best.

Connect to UQ

If you have completed your first semester, but still want help connecting to UQ there are a variety of opportunities available to you. This includes other mentoring programs,  UQ  Union clubs and societies, and volunteering at UQ. Student Services also supports students to access counselling and learning advice.
