Sharing your leadership and experience can play a key role in supporting a student’s career journey.
Being a mentor serves as a way of giving back and can be a valuable development and learning experience to reflect on your career progression and achievements and engage with the UQ BEL community.
The program runs each semester (March to July and August to December) and is facilitated by UQ BEL Careers and Employability.
What is involved?
As a mentor, you will help students design and build their future career pathway and bridge the gap between university studies and work through purposeful conversations. In the process, you will develop your communication and leadership skills and broaden your professional network. Don’t worry if this is your first mentoring experience, you will be provided with resources and support from BEL Careers and Employability.
The program is administered online through the Chronus platform where students have the flexibility to choose a mentor they feel will best suit the goals they are looking to achieve. Mentoring meetings can be flexible and can take place in person or virtually.

Our mentors have experience across a range of industries and disciplines. Whether you are based in Brisbane, inter-state or internationally, we ask that you have at least 3 years professional experience in any of the following areas:
