The NMSW Get Set Peer Mentoring Program supports new students studying Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work and Counselling

The student experience is about more than just academic study, it's also about building lasting connections and finding the support new students need to thrive and transition smoothly into university life.

Each new student can join a small mentoring group led by one or two experienced peer mentors. These mentors are students from the same program of study who are committed to guiding, encouraging, and supporting new students as they get started at UQ. Mentors will facilitate group catch-ups and an online chat, helping new students build connections and navigate their first few weeks with confidence.

New students can choose their mentoring group based on their study program. If no selection is made, students will be matched with a group to ensure the best possible fit for their academic and social needs. This program offers an invaluable opportunity to connect, learn, and grow in a supportive community, setting the foundation for a successful journey in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work (NMSW) at UQ.
