What is My Student Guide?
My Student Guide program was created to help new-to-UQ students feel welcomed and supported before they start university.
For one week, new students and their Student Guide can share casual and friendly online messages about life at university, getting around campus, the UQ student experience, and more!
Do I get to choose who my Student Guide will be?
Yes! When you register for the program, you’ll provide us with important details like your degree and whether you’re an undergraduate or postgraduate student. Our algorithm will then show you the Student Guide that you’d be most ‘compatible’ with – but you’re welcome to connect with the Student Guide whose bio you like best.
Can I pick more than one Student Guide?
As we want you to feel connected and comfortable with your student volunteer, you can only match with one Student Guide.
How long does the program run?
My Student Guide runs for one week (Monday to Sunday). You can log in and message your Student Guide as often as you like during that time.
Can I meet my Student Guide in person, or chat with them over the phone?
My Student Guide is an online program, where you can message an experienced student volunteer. It is not designed for in-person or over-the-phone interactions.
I have specific questions about enrolment. Is this suitable for My Student Guide?
Please contact UQ Student Central for questions about enrolment, as our student volunteers are not trained to answer questions of this nature.
My Student Guide isn’t responding. What do I do?
Your Student Guide volunteer might be busy responding to their other messages! Student Guides will reply to their messages at least once a day, at a time that suits them best.
